An unusually large format Republican bone and bamboo complete set with fine carving. The typically shallow carving of the period has led to fading of the 1 tiao bird tiles which retain their naive style outlines. The carving and colour of the tiao tiles is particularly fine, as are the joints. The tiles are made with thick bone producing a 50:50 ratio with the bamboo. There is an extra 1 tiao tile in the slide-top box.
